    Next Generation MINI Hatch To Be Split Between Electric And Petrol

    The F56 hatch will be produced for nearly ten years before it’s officially done. However much of that chassis will live on in its successor. The next generation internal combustion hatch will be heavily based on the F56 and will be made at Plant Oxford. Much like the transition between the R50 and the R56, key elements will be reengineered but much of the core structure will remain the same. This will allow for cost savings as BMW launches the parallel all electric MINI hatch designed on a completely separate platform and built in China by Great Wall Motors.

    The electric hatch will offering much more performance and range than the current Cooper SE If rumors are to be believe, MINI will make use of the Ora Kat’s single electric motor producing 169bhp and 184lb ft, (which results in a 0-31mph in 3.8sec) and come with driver assistance systems not seen in small cars before. It will also feature a range of around 250 miles in base form. That last number is identical to what we’ve heard from sources about the next generation MINI (although expect that to be closer to 200 miles on the EPA’s testing cycle). We’d also expect a Cooper S and even JCW variant with even greater performance.


    Massive Leap In Technology & Infotainment

    Here’s where things get really interesting. In the BMW version we’ll see the all-new BMW Operating System 8 debut. Note this is not called iDrive because the iDrive controller is gone in this application. We’d expect MINI to follow suit. In our minds it’s a step backwards given the data that points to a multi-function controller being safer to use while driving. And having tested the new BMW OS8 recently we can also say things have gotten much more complex in both functionality and usability.

    Yet MINI has a history of going their own way in terms of infotainment so we expect an in-car experience that feels more intuitive and much more MINI. It’s unclear if MINI will carry over the two large screens seen above.


    The Next Generation MINI Hatch Timeline

    We believe the next generation internal combustion hatch and separate electric model should both debut sometime in late 2023. What models will be available at launch is a mystery as is the JCW sub-brand product strategy. It’s expected MINI will offer both petrol and electric JCW models but that launch might be staggered.

For one the UKL chassis that underpins the current F56 is still relatively modern and was designed in a very modular way. Second there’s the enormous cost associated with developing (in parallel) the all electric MINI hatch designed on a completely separate platform. But this won’t be a facelift. Revised engines, an all exterior with a shorter front overhang and an entirely new interior with much larger infotainment screens are coming. We’re told it will feel like an entirely new car and come in both three and five door configurations. (…)

    4. The Countryman (G60) As we detailed last week, the all new Countryman will be based on the new FAAR BMW platform. The successor to the UKL2, the FAAR is designed from the ground-up to accommodate internal combustion, hybrid and all electric power. The versatility of the platform is key as MINI (and BMW) will likely need to pivot to electrification quickly based on market and legislative pressures. For the Countryman this will result is a slightly larger car but one with aluminum and other weight savings measures designed into it.     Other Rumored Next Generation MINIs Oliver Heilmer, Head of MINI Design, has gone on record by saying that there would be a maximum of five new MINI models in the fourth generation MINIs. However as you can see there’s no Clubman listed above nor is there a reference to the Urbanaut. And when Helimer said five was he counting both hatches as two and one? We know that the Clubman, in its current form won’t continue. Despite it being the best four door MINI current makes, the market us quickly shrinking for small wagons. We also know that MINI is exploring other variants like the Urbanaut and rumors have pointed to even larger crossovers in the future. At this time we believe nothing has been decided in those categories and MINI is moving forward with the five above.

    Neckarsulm - Den Wocheneinkauf erledigen und ganz nebenbei das E-Auto auf dem Parkplatz laden lassen. Bei Discounter-Gigant Lidl ist das möglich. Auch bei anderen Unternehmen wie Aldi oder Ikea können Kunden die E-Ladestationen auf den Parkplätzen nutzen. Doch nicht alle werden von Kunden genutzt. Immer häufiger gibt es dreiste Stromschnorrer, die die Ladeplätze einfach belegen.

    Das Problem der Strom-Schnorrer ist Lidl bereits bekannt. Es stand sogar schon die Frage im Raum, ob Lidl und Co. die kostenlosen E-Ladesäulen wieder abbauen. Denn es ist weder im Sinne der Kunden, noch des Discounters, das Vorgehen der Strom-Diebe durchgehen zu lassen. Statt das Angebot einzuschränken, sucht Lidl aktuell nach anderen Lösungen. So wurde bereits die Abgabemenge des Stroms der Lidl-Ladesäulen begrenzt. Außerdem arbeitet der Discounter an einer E-Charge-App, für die sich die Kunden erst registrieren müssen, bevor sie aufladen dürfen. Das würde auch die Kundin begrüßen. „Bitte Lidl Deutschland, nehmt die eCharge App aktiv in Betrieb, damit dieses Schnorren endlich aufhört“, schreibt sie auf Facebook. In Heilbronn wird außerdem eine völlig neue Bezahlmethode für Lidl per App entwickelt.

    Dann kann ich ja jede runde Spiegelkappe für den F56 verwenden

    und frage konkret nach. Das sollte pragmatisch

    zu klären sein. Viel Spaß.

    Kann sonst jemand bestätigen, dass alle runden Spiegel beim F56 bis LCI2 (eckige Spiegel) gleich sind?


    Definitiv nicht,

    die eckigen Spiegelkappen sind nicht erst

    mit dem LCI2 eingeführt worden, sondern

    - wenn ich mich recht erinnere - in 11/2019.


    In Deinem Fall sind es die altbekannten

    runden Spiegelkappen. Ich habe diese

    auch gefahren, aus dem Zubehör,

    auf JCW LCI1 aus 03/2018.
