    MINI USA RELEASES MINI REMOTE ENGINE STARTER RETROFIT KIT


    Just in time for winter MINI USA has finally(1) released a MINI remote engine starter kit (REnS) for select models. The system utilizes the MINI’s existing keys and is activated by three presses of the lock button. The system communicates with the vehicle’s control units to ensure that the vehicle is safe to start.


    The idea of the new MINI Remote Engine Start is to allow owners to warm up or cool down their car from the comfort of somewhere warm.


    Here are the details:

    • The MINI Remote Engine Start has full integration into the vehicle’s existing systems and keys.
    • The system remains on for 20 minutes before automatically shutting off.
    • Intuitive and seamless activation from the existing keys.
    • Easy to use: Simply push the lock button two times, then press and hold it a third time (for about 1-2 seconds) to trigger a remote start.
    • All remote start kits are coded parts that require an additional coded key to be used during the installation of the remote start system.
    • Not applicable for vehicles with manual transmission

    Pricing & Availability
    The kit will initially be offered on the F55 Cooper 5 Door & F56 hatch. Pricing for both will be $845 for the entire kit without installation. The kit will be available to dealers this January.


    However there’s no technical reason that this kit won’t work on the F54 Clubman and F57 Convertible.

    • We say finally because this kit has been available in Europe since 2014.

    Als Schichtarbeiter sag ich mal spontan ja. Bringt sicher Luxus, ökologisch ist es eher weniger sinnvoll :/
    Bis jetzt kam ich mit Sitzheizung und Sichtpaket auch gut durch den Winter

    Habe diese Systeme bei uns in der Kaserne bereits ein paarmal gesehen (wie sie angingen bzw angemacht wurden) auf der einen Seite finde ich es nett (aber auch wieder Sinnlos)
    Sinnlos deshalb (zb in Deutschland nicht erlaubt...wissen wir ja...kommt ja auch nicht hierher) Verschleiß und Verbrauch und Umwelt.....wobei ich es manchmal besser finde (Sicherheit) lieber den Wagen ein paar Minuten laufen lassen bevor EXPERTEN mit Panzerschießscharten unterwegs sind oder die Scheiben wieder einfrieren.


    ich selber würde es nicht nutzen wollen...dann eher Sitzheizung und Sichtpaket oder Standheizung oder wenn technisch lösbar von Herstellerseite ein schnelleres Warm werden des Fahrzeuginneren nach dem Start.

    Der Motor im Stand warm laufen lassen ist nicht optimal für die Tecknik. Ich finde der Preis hoch, dann besser noch etwas mehr spendieren und ein Standheizung verbauen lassen. Funktioniert natürlich nicht im Sommer wann man kühlen woll, aber die Klima funktioniert doch sehr gut und wann sehr heiss ist dann öffne ich gleich die Scheiben wann ich das Auto entriegel. Einfach Entriegelknopf länger eingedrückt halten.


    Ich habe im Menu wohl mal etwas gesehen von Vorventilation aber weiss nicht OB und wie dass funktioniert?!


    Die Startfunktion gefällt warscheinlich bei Leute die gerne mal die Show machen bei Freunde und Vorbeigänger. ;)


    Am Nürburgring stehen bei Trackdays oder Werkstestdagen wohl einige Pick-ups startbereit und die haben auch ein Fernbedienung züm starten.
    Ein von die Mitarbeiter wollte mein Freundin erschrecken lassen wann sie entlang das geparkte Auto lief und startete von Abstand aber sie blieb ganz cool. :)

    Seh ich wie ihr. Bei uns hier in D nicht erlaubt und deswegen hab ich mir bisher gar nicht die Frage gestellt.


    Interessant find ich es aber, dass es angeboten wird.


    Wenn ich an das Erwärmen denke, dann find ich eine Standheizung auch besser, da schonender für Motor und Co.
